Stuttgart, 06 October 2023 – High-profile exhibitors, forward-looking technologies, innovative products:  The international trade fair SPS will be held in Nuremberg from 14 to 16 November 2023. LAPP is also back again. The leading supplier of integrated solutions and branded products in the field of cable and connection technology will be presenting smart solutions for automation in Hall 2, Stand 310.

“LAPP is always at the forefront when it comes to trends and innovations. For this reason, we will once again be present at SPS in Nuremberg, where we will be able to show off our full range of services. It is one of the most important meeting points for the automation industry and brings together ideas and expertise from industry and business”, summarises Karl Heckl, CSO LA EMEA at U.I. Lapp GmbH.

LAPP offers a comprehensive portfolio for Single Pair Ethernet applications.

In line with the new brand appearance "alive by LAPP," visitors to the trade fair stand will experience how the Stuttgart-based company literally brings industries and automation to life: the high-quality products from LAPP not only stand for themselves, but also become holistic solutions for industries and customers. This is particularly visible in the application model on the trade fair stand, which shows the function and quality of the products in application throughout all trade fair days.

Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) technology, which replaces the fieldbuses and standardises the technology in IP-based networks, is becoming increasingly important to the Stuttgart-based company. Here, LAPP has been working together with other renowned manufacturers in the SPE partner network for several years on a uniform standard for the industry. At the SPS, LAPP will be presenting SPE connectors and switches prototypes for the first time, in addition to the tied-and-tested two-core cables and patchcords. The comprehensive portfolio is complemented by the first Advanced Physical Layer (APL) cables from LAPP With their higher transmission rate at larger ranges, they are a milestone for process automation. Visitors can get an impression of the first Ethernet APL cable with a physical layer for data transmission at the trade fair stand in Nuremberg.

LAPP takes a look into the future

A look to the future is also not to be missed either: where LAPP is driving ideas, technologies and, above all, smart solutions, will be visible in the futureLab at the exhibition stand. Here, LAPP shows off the first bio-based cables. These include the ETHERLINE® FD bioP Cat.5e for Industrial Ethernet, which was developed jointly with BASF, and whose sheathing is partly made of a corn-based biopolymer. In addition, LAPP is presenting a PVC cable with a bio-based content for the first time. The ÖLFLEX® Classic FD810 was designed together with the Texan supplier Westlake. With eKanban, LAPP also takes an exciting look at the digital cable inventory management of tomorrow. In addition, the possibility developed by LAPP to identify products using image recognition software and AI shows how simple ordering and purchasing processes can be in the future: from a simple smartphone photo to ordering, users of the solution need only seconds.

Experience products and solutions live

A particular highlight at the trade fair stand this year is once again the Enabler Stage. Here too, LAPP experts take a look at the world of tomorrow and the issues, technologies, trends and innovations that are already moving industry today. These include exciting talks this year on single pair Ethernet, Ethernet-APL, fibre optics, green materials and biobased compounds, electromagnetic compatibility, zeroCM technology from LAPP and ÖLFLEX® CONNECT.

Ticket holders who cannot wait until the start of the trade fair will have the opportunity to take part in a digital pre-heat event via the "SPS on air" platform in the week before the trade fair, with numerous talks on current issues and innovations in the industry. LAPP is represented here with a paper on "Fibre optic cables – future-proof industrial network communication & presentation of the LAPP Fibre Fast Connect system" and a presentation on "The future of process automation: Ethernet-APL in focus".
