The aim of EU Directive 2014/55/EU (European Standard EN 16931) is to establish uniform standards and to facilitate the automation of invoice processing.
ZUGFeRD (Central User Guide of the German Electronic Invoice Forum) is a hybrid solution that combines machine-readable data (in XML format) with a PDF version of the invoice.
The invoice can be read and processed both digitally and manually.
