The LAPP multi-entries are available for assembled and unassembled cables.
Cable + connector = assembled cable
Cable without connector = unassembled cable
SKINTOP® multi-entry systems are used wherever many cables need to be inserted simultaneously in a confined space. Our product portfolio includes solutions for assembled and unassembled cables for a wide range of diameters, thus covering the full spectrum of application areas. This guarantees reliable protection even under extreme loads.
In essence, all cable glands fulfil the purpose of inserting a cable or a wire into the housing of a machine or control cabinet.
Our LAPP multi-entries are designed for inserting multiple cables. In our portfolio you will find products with up to 30 occupiable bushings.
In addition to this, we at LAPP offer you a wide range of high-quality single-entries if you are planning to feed in only 1 cable or wire.
In principle, LAPP multi entries are suitable for almost every type of cable:
Only the clamping ranges specified for each feed-through point must be observed.
The best thing about this is that the LAPP multi-entries don’t need any accessories!
If cables with a free cable end are to be routed, we can offer multi-entries for unassembled cables. They are made of a hard component that can be firmly screwed in a rectangular or round design with an absolutely reliable gel seal. This highly elastic gel membrane is unique on the market and enables extremely simple, fast and safe installation of unassembled cables (also suitable for AS-I bus cables).
The individual bushings are clearly marked and clearly legible with the appropriate clamping range in millimetres (mm). You can’t do anything wrong!
A cable with an already mounted connector cannot easily pass through a cable gland. The connector always has a significantly larger cross-section than the cable. It is not possible to produce a seal that leaves enough space for inserting a connector while still being able to seal the cable against the narrower outer sheath.
Our engineers at LAPP have developed the innovative SKINTOP® CUBE system for pre-assembled cables (also for AS-I bus cables). It consists of a closed frame and quick-locking modules, which are inserted into the frame. Each of them consists of two halves of a module holding a cable.
This enables the assembly clamped with the module to be guided through the generous frame of the multi-entry and quickly fastened to it. The separately operated lower holders make it easy to replace it individually at any time.
Too much time required and a lot of space – inserts from yesterday.
Low time required and little space requirement – insert of today and tomorrow.
In addition to the obvious benefit of inserting a cable into the housing of a control cabinet or machine, our LAPP multi-entries also offer other essential technical properties:
In order to keep external interfering signals safely away from your cables and your application, the copper braiding should be permanently contacted at the housing entry. The cables form a closed connection with the cable gland and the metallic housing wall. This ensures constant conductivity.
And how can this be done in the case of a multi-entry? - Exactly this way!
Be impressed by our easy-to-install EMC add-on, which offers your cables the perfect EMC protection at any time.
An increasing number of control cables are to be inserted in increasingly better networked machines in tight spaces. The technology to be developed must accompany the development of the market, which is increasingly moving towards miniaturisation due to industrial communication.
The demand for products that are as multifunctional as possible and yet simple is high. What do you want as a customer?
A high number of bushings, large clamping ranges for heterogeneous cable diameters, maximum housing sealing, cable insertion including connectors and little to no accessories.
The Eddie Lapp Award is LAPP’s in-house innovation prize and is awarded annually to the best innovation in the field of a product, process or business model.
With the SKINTOP® MULTI-M we have kept pace with market developments: the graduated funnel technology is used to maximise the clamping range, while IP 68 also achieves optimum sealing of your cables. The gel seal used protects the cables during insertion and seals itself if bushings have not been used.
Standards play a major role for the LAPP engineers in the development and design of electrical components. Please refer to the data sheets of our products for the exact standards according to which they were designed. The most important standards in regard to our multi-entries are as follows:
DIN EN 62444 or VDE 0619:2014-05 describes the designs, requirements and design tests of various cable glands for electrical installations.
UL approvals from the US organisation Underwriters Laboratories are particularly important for multi-entries used in North America. The UL50/UL50E standard sets similar requirements to the European IP classification according to DIN EN 60529:2014-09 or VDE 0470-1:2014-09, which meets the information about the protection class and thus the leak-tightness of a product. The safety standard UL 508 A for industrial system controllers can also be included here. It defines the functional requirements for control cabinets, for example, defines the types of circuits and stipulates the corresponding protection and control functions. Product conformity with these standards allows a wide range of applications for you.
