Fiber-optic cable configurator

A quick, simple and clear path to your FOC assembly

Use our online tool to configure an individually assembled fiber optic cable.

Glass fiber installations are becoming increasingly important for handling larger data volumes and the increasing demands on data transmission. With the fiber optic cable (AKA optical fiber) product group, LAPP offers high-quality cable assemblies for this purpose. With our FOC configurator, you can quickly and neatly put together the perfect assembly for your application.

Background knowledge

Which basic questions need to be answered about fiber optic cable assemblies?

  • Where should the assembly be used and how should it be installed?
  • What transmission length should be traveled between the transmitter and receiver?
  • What data transmission rates should be achieved?
  • Is the assembly compatible with the components already used in the communication network (sensors, actuators, switches, control computers, etc.)?

What advantages do factory-assembled cables offer?

  • The ready-to-connect assembly can be installed directly.
  • No expensive equipment or time-consuming connector assembly, saving you time and money.
  • The high-quality connection increases the reliability of your application.
  • Top-quality factory assembly results in better attenuation values (low insertion attenuation and high return attenuation).

What are fiber type and fiber category?

  • Fiber: Single conductor that guides the light waves. The individual fibers together form the core of a fiber optic cable.
  • Fiber type: Groups the fiber optic cables into single-mode (transmits light of one mode) and multi-mode (transmits light across several modes).
  • Fiber category: Categorizes the fibers of a fiber optic cable (OS2 or OM1 to OM4). The higher the OM category, the higher the data transmission rate and the greater the distance. OS2 fibers offer the highest transmission properties by far.
