Short description:

Get an overview of the entire passive infrastructure for PROFINET.

After the workshop, you will be able to select the right components for your application and thus plan a PROFINET-compliant installation.

In the practical part, you will learn how to handle PROFINET cables and plug connections so that you can carry out the installation quickly and without errors.

Content of the training course:

This course teaches the basics of PROFINET technology. The content is based on the relevant PROFIBUS International (PI) guidelines. Building on this, the advantages and differences of special PROFINET switches compared to conventional switches are explained and the special functions and PN conformance classes are explained.

In the practical section, participants learn how to handle common Industrial Ethernet cables and plug connectors. This involves fitting plug connectors to cables yourself under supervision. This is followed by the measurement of the Ethernet cable assembly and interpretation of the most important metrological parameters.

Participants will also learn how to integrate a PROFINET switch into a TIA project, including installation of the GSD file, parameterisation and configuration of the switch.

Required prior knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of automation, Ethernet, PLC and PROFINET

Short description:

Familiarise yourself with the PROFINET-specific functions of switches so that you can assess the benefits of this technology for your application.

In the practical section, you will learn how to use the PROFINET-specific functions of switches correctly in the application.

Content of the training course:

In this training course, participants gain an insight into the basics of Ethernet data cables and an overview of the LAPP ETHERLINE® portfolio for Industrial Ethernet metreware. The advantages of Ethernet in the industrial environment are explained and we discuss why the number of Industrial Ethernet nodes has increased rapidly in recent years. In addition, content on common Industrial Ethernet protocols such as PROFINET is presented and their requirements for data cables are discussed.
This is rounded off with an overview of PROFINET plug connectors and patch cables.

In the practical section, participants learn how to handle common Industrial Ethernet cables and plug connectors. This involves fitting plug connectors to cables yourself under supervision. This is followed by the measurement of the Ethernet cable assembly and interpretation of the most important metrological parameters.

Required prior knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering
  • Basic knowledge in handling tools

Short description:

As a user from the industrial sector, you will learn about fibre optic cable technology and be able to assess the advantages over copper cabling for your application.

You will learn the how to handle this technology in practice and how to connect glass fibre yourself in the practical section of this training course. Learn how to select the right connection systems for your application.

Content of the training course:

In this training course, participants are taught the basics of fibre optic cable technology. The advantages of fibre optic cables over copper data cables are also discussed. In particular, the focus is on the use of fibre optic cables in industry. Various fibre optic cable types and the connection technology are discussed.

In the practical section, participants are introduced to fibre optic connection techniques in practice. The participants will connect plug connectors to glass fibre cables themselves under supervision and receive practical information on the advantages and disadvantages of the respective connection technologies.

The focus is on industrial applications.

Required prior knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering
  • Basic knowledge in handling tools

Short description:

Familiarise yourself with the advantages of managed switches so that you can use the functions advantageously and correctly in your application in future.

In the practical section, you will configure the most important management functions of ETHERLINE Access managed switches in order to be able to use them in a targeted manner.

Content of the training course:

This course introduces the most important functions of managed switches and discusses their practical use in industrial applications. The advantages of managed switches over unmanaged switches are also presented.

In the practical section, participants learn how to activate and configure the most important functions of a managed switch, such as ring redundancy, port mirroring and SMTP, and how to recognise their effects.

You will learn how to analyse important diagnostic information in order to avoid potential network problems or to identify and rectify the cause of network problems.

Basic knowledge required:

  • Ethernet basic knowledge

Short description:

You will learn about the advantages and functions of remote I/Os and will be able to use the functions advantageously and correctly in your application after the training course. You can also integrate sensors, understand the configuration of a remote I/O (incl. hub), the connection of remote I/Os to control platforms such as TIA or similar and can use these in a targeted manner.

Content of the training course:

This course presents communication in the sensor network, which sensor types and communication paths (IO-Link, Ethernet/IP, OPCA/UA, etc.) are available, and discusses their practical use in industrial applications. The advantages of remote I/O and hubs are also presented.
Participants learn how to activate and configure the most important functions of a remote I/O and how to recognise their effects.
You will learn how to analyse important diagnostic information in order to avoid potential network problems or to identify and rectify the cause of network problems.

Required prior knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of sensor technology
