Their work ranges from the receipt of the goods in logistics right up to the dispatch process. To this end, they need to communicate and cooperate with upstream and downstream operational areas. Occupational safety and environmental protection are of particular importance to warehouse logistics specialists.

The duration of training is normally 3 years and can be reduced to 2.5 years during training for very good to good performance (vocational school/company).

LAPP is training for the profession at the Stuttgart location and, as of 9/2024, at the Hanover location.

Mechatronics engineers work in the assembly and maintenance of complex machines, plants and systems for companies in mechanical and plant engineering, in the electrical and electronics industry, for service and maintenance companies, as well as for operators of production facilities in all sectors.

Mechatronics engineers (m/f/d) do not primarily focus on manufacturing mechanical parts or wiring circuits, but rather on integrating modularised and standardised components into systems of increasing complexity. The main focal points are understanding cause-and-effect relationships, functional and holistic system considerations, and the design of work processes and flows. This requires a network-minded approach as well as teamwork and coordination with upstream and downstream areas.

The first 11 months of training are carried out on an intercorporate basis at the GARP educational centre located in Ostfildern-Ruit (= basic technical training).

Your tasks

  • Planning and controlling work processes, as well as evaluating work results (quality management)
  • Machining mechanical parts and putting together assemblies and components into mechatronic systems
  • Installing electrical assemblies and components
  • Measuring and testing electrical variables
  • Installing and testing hardware and software components
  • Setting up and testing electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic controls
  • Programming mechatronic systems
  • Assembling and disassembling machines, systems and plants, as well as transporting and securing them
  • Testing and configuring functions on mechatronic systems
  • Commissioning and operating mechatronic systems
  • Handing over systems, instructing users on how to operate them and providing services
  • Maintaining mechatronic systems
  • Working with English-language documents and communicating in English
