Because knowledge is better than belief: ColourChecker

A colour is not just a colour. We at LAPP have experience with this. In the 1950s, founder Oskar Lapp invented the first industrially manufactured oil-resistant and flexible control cable - with colour coding! This groundbreaking innovation is the foundation of a success story that continues to this day thanks to the constant further development of future-oriented connection solutions.

In doing so, we always have our customers and their needs in mind. What brings them further? What are their challenges? How can we help to master them?

In the course of this, we have asked ourselves the following question:

How can we keep the colour quality, especially the outer colour of cables, constantly at the same level?

Our answer: the ColourChecker

Colouring is a safety factor, many colour values in the cable and wire environment are standardised. Very often, colour is checked purely subjectively by humans before delivery. We eliminate this risk of error with an alternative, cost-effective method for testing colour quality that excludes human and environmental influences. The potential range of applications for this innovative solution goes far beyond the universal testing of cables and wires for all available cross-sections and colours.

The most important features:

  • Identification of all colour nuances (Lab colour space).
  • Non-destructive testing
  • Stand-alone device
  • Intuitive operation
  • Testing time less than one second
  • Exclusion of any operator and environmental influences
  • Successfully completed long-term test under production conditions
  • Patent application

Where do you also want to know instead of believe?

Our innovation team has developed this one solution for numerous areas of application, for all the diverse causes of colour variations, which, with the help of digital image processing, turns belief into knowledge.

Because colour is not just a colour, even when it comes to corporate or brand identities, for example. The Colour Quality Check is able to check workpieces of all kinds for their colour quality and is thus universally applicable. Perhaps even much further than we think.

That is why you help us!

  • Do you see potential fields of application for our ColourChecker in your field?
  • In which way is colouring relevant for you due to given requirements (customer, standards, internal specifications, ...)?
  • Do you need to make sure that all your products and batches have the same colouring?

You have answers to one or more of these questions - then we would be pleased if you contact us via the form and help with your feedback to bring the right colour into your life.
